National Tutoring Programme

We at York Private Tutors are a member of the MME group who have been elected as a DfE-approved provider for the National Tutoring Programme. NTP tutoring is being offered through MME for Maths, English and Science - these are currently focused on students who are studying for their GCSE exams but are looking to be expanded to other ages in the foreseeable future. Parents are not able to enrol their own children, so if you are interested and looking for additional information, get in touch with their school today and ask about MME as a provider.

Here are some questions commonly asked about the National Tutoring Programme

What is the National Tutoring Programme?

It was originally made as a way of students catching up after the huge break from the pandemic but due to the growing interest and positive outcome of the tutoring it has since been extended to continue providing support and tuition to schools. NTP is a government initiative designed to help schools get the funding necessary to ensure their students can succeed through 1-2-1 or group tuition.

How does the NTP funding work?

Each school is allocated with £162 per pupil for Pupil Premium. The funding is given at 3 different points throughout the school year, September, December and April and can be offered to any student as part of the programme. Schools are able to claim up to a maximum of £18 per hour per student, which equates to about 60% of the tuition cost.

Is the NTP tuition online or in person and is it in groups?

There are many different options that are offered from in person 1-2-1 or online group tuition. In most circumstances the in person 1-2-1 tuition will be much more expensive than the online group lessons

How does the dfe national tutoring programme make a difference?

The scheme has been shown to have had a significant positive impact on students who may have fallen behind and need to catch up on lost learning, GCSE students in particular have been positively influenced by NTP.
