What are functional skills?

What are functional skills? They are equivalent qualifications, coming in Maths, English, and ICT. The most common is Functional Skills Level 2, which is the equivalent of a GCSE qualification. The other level is Functional Skills Level 1, which is the equivalent of an SAT qualification. These qualifications are used by people of all ages to improve their employment chances. As well as gain access to University and apprenticeship courses. The qualification itself will be worth a grade of C or Level 4. So the qualification can be used in place of qualifications of the same subject and grade. Opening doors into higher education that were previously unavailable.

What are functional skills levels? Pass Functional Skills offers both Functional Skills Level 1 and Level 2 Maths and English qualifications. We highly recommend this provider as they have a good reputation. Their exams are also regulated by Ofqual, so are recognized and accepted throughout England. Pass Functional Skills also benefits from working with multiple major exam boards within England, for example, Open Awards, City & Guilds, AQA, Edexcel, OCR, and NCFE.

You may be wondering why you should take a Functional Skills exam over retaking a GCSE. For the GCSE qualification, it can take around 2 years. Meanwhile on a Functional Skills Level 2 course, you can be finished in less than a month. The exam can be taken all year round, and benefit from being able to be taken from the comfort of your own home. So there will be no need to travel anywhere to take the exam.
